Benevolence

The Chapel Benevolence Committee (CBC) is comprised of Protestant and Catholic resident volunteers who guide the Chapel’s financial aid to small, well managed Christian charities in Martin County. These grants make a measurable difference for these charities as they help people in need of food, shelter, clothing, education, rehabilitation and health care.

Music

Music is an important and integral part of our worship each Sunday. Under the direction of Amy Lou Brown with Dr. Tim Thompson at the organ or piano our Chapel is filled with a variety of musical offerings from classical works to modern praise. In addition to congregational hymns, Mariner Sands members fill our choral and bell choirs sharing their talents. Weekly rehearsals are a popular learning and social time!

Shawl Ministry

The Shawl Ministry meets year-round to knit and crochet shawls, lap robes, baby blankets, newborn hats and sweaters, and warm clothing for children in need.

Their labor of love produces over 500 items each year, which are delivered to local charities including Hospice, Christ Child Society, Hibiscus Children’s Center, Safe Space, St. Vincent de Paul and local nursing homes. Come join us!

White Dove

Each December the House of Hope, a local charity, distributes Christmas gifts to the children of needy Martin County families. Mariner Sands Chapel has lovingly supported this outreach since 1994 with our “White Dove Christmas for Kids” project. Residents are invited to stop by the Chapel, adopt a “White Dove” from our Christmas tree and purchase the gifts requested or support the project by making a financial donation.

CHICKEN SOUP MINISTRY

A bowl of soup and a prayer can nourish our body and lift our spirits when we're not feeling our best.  As part of the Chapel's mission of “Serving Others,” the Chapel Benevolence Committee supports a program to provide chicken soup to homebound residents.
